As part of our school's end of the year activities, the students participate in a track and field day. Well, it has transformed over the years and now it is more of a sack race, water and sponge relay, blindfold basketball day. The year our focus for the school has been cultural awareness.
This theme is going to carry over into our "One World" field day where each class will research a country and create a banner representing that country. My classroom was paired with a Kindergarten class to research New Zealand. So, I went to my favorite professional development, networking tool and gave a shout out for a teacher who would like to connect classrooms. Within 5 minutes (yes, 5 minutes...that is why I love twitter, but that is another blog post), I had made a connection with a teacher from New Zealand who was up to challenge.
Here is our first blog post introducing ourselves a little and asking a few questions. Additional updates, results of my first attempt at a #globalclassroom project, and of course pictures will be coming soon!
